Garden
- Ask your local nursery for a list of plants that are suitable to grow in your garden.
- When planting new plants in your garden, ensure they are sufficiently watered and mulched over the initial weeks to increase their chance of survival. You can waste a lot of money buying plants that otherwise end up going to plant heaven.
- Start your own vegetable patch. There is nothing nicer than picking and eating your own home grown produce.
- Use plenty of mulch and organic materials around your garden as these help to retain moisture and nutrients in the soil reducing the need for extra watering especially during summer.
- Set up a compost bin and put all of your scraps and compostable materials in there. Some materials that you can use include kitchen scraps, shredded paper, grass clippings, prunings, mulching, manure, hair etc. Once this has broken down it can be spread around the garden.
