Children : Toys
- Swap toys, dvds, play station games etc with other family and friends so that your children don’t get bored with your selection. That way each family only need to have a small supply of toys but if they are continually swapped the children are continually getting exposed to new things.
- For Christmas, birthdays and other celebrations, get your child to write a wish list of what toys they want. Teach them that they will only get one or two items and that the item needs to be reasonably priced. This way you will know what your child wants and they get to learn they can’t always have everything that they wish for. They will have to prioritise their list.
- Look for 2nd hand toys and books by visiting your local charity shop, flea market etc.
- Don’t forget the cheap old fashioned fun things that children enjoy spending hours doing such as colouring in, blowing bubbles, playing snakes and ladders, and playing with play dough.
- Don’t get caught up having to buy your child the latest and greatest gimmick or gadget. They will soon lose interest in this item and you will have wasted a large sum of money on it. Learn to say ‘no’ to your child or encourage them to save their own money for the item.
