Babies : Health and Safety
Before your baby becomes active and can get around by themselves, you will need to look at baby proofing your home. Below are 5 saving money tips on how to do this on a budget:
- Safety Tips
- Add safety gates to the top and bottom of stairs, entries into the kitchen (if next to the lounge room) and other areas that are dangerous to the child. Look out for second hand barrier gates on ebay, garage sales and second hand stores.
- Secure all cupboards and doors with childproof locks. There are many different locks on the market for sale, so choose something that is suitable for you and your family.
- Leave doors closed to rooms that might be problems such as the bathroom. Getting in the habit of closing these doors whilst the baby isn’t moving around is a great idea.
- Keep medicines and chemicals high and out of reach of little ones in a secure cabinet. If you don't have a cabinet, source a good one.
- Health Tips
- Consider trying herbal or natural remedies for certain ailments to save some money on lots of pharmaceuticals. You can jump on the internet and find out what other mothers are using for certain things. Apply wisdom though to anything you read on the internet and ensure you are reading the information from legitimate sites such as medical associations and professional organisations.
