Presents / Gifts
- If you have lots of younger family members, do you set an age limit where you stop giving gifts? This might be when they reach 13/ 16 / 18 / 21? Or when they start work? It can get very expensive if you have to keep giving gifts to all of your grandchildren / great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Plus it gets even worse when they start to get partners.
- Give a photo or collage of photos as a gift. Would a loving picture of yourself or your family mean more than an expensive present to someone?
- Try making your own gift cards using either the internet to print your own or use craft materials to design your own special cards. Children can be entertained for hours making cards. People will enjoy receiving a card that you have made with love.
- Have a present drawer, especially if you have young children who are likely to spring on you that they are going to a party in the next day or so. You can show the child the present drawer and they can choose which gift they wish to give to their friends.
- Don’t get caught up in the hype and marketing campaigns during times of the year such as Xmas, Easter, Valentines, Mothers Day etc. The retail industries marketing strategies are developed to make you feel guilty if you don’t spend massive sums of money. Don’t feel guilty, spend what you can afford and show your loved ones you care about them in other ways.
